Lots has been happening around here in the last few weeks!
- I am VERY excited to announce that I am now represented by Jennifer Laughran, of Andrea Brown Literary Agency!!! I'm over the moon about having Jennifer as my agent, and can't wait to see what projects we will work on together.
- I spent the last week of October in New York City, catching up with friends and illustrators, eating 5/$1 dumplings, going to museums and seeing a spread from Sonya's Chickens displayed at the Society of Illustrators in their Original Art show, which celebrated the best children's books of 2015! What an honor to be chosen and shown alongside some of the most amazing illustrators alive today!
- I chatted recently with Karen Santhanum of the Storybook Spotlight podcast about my book, Sonya's Chickens and more! Thank you so much to Karen for having me!
- My GRAY AREA zine is now available on Etsy, as well as Best Be Bernie shirts in a new color way, and more!
Just for fun, my sketch of the cover, below.
My Taproot magazine editor & art director Amanda Blake Soule and I will be hosting a Taproot sponsored OPEN CRAFT NIGHT at the Ragfinery in Bellingham, Thursday June 11th from 5-8pm! If you haven’t been to the Ragfinery yet, it is one of my very favorite spots in town. Hopefully fellow contributor Demetria Provatas will be in attendance as well! Bring handwork and come say hello!
I feel so honored to be chosen as Taproot's 2015 cover artist, this week my copy of issue 13:: SONG finally arrived in the mail! I was so excited to see my work right on the front! It has been such an amazing gift to be a part of Taproot since their birth. I am so looking forward to digging into my copy of SONG and enjoying everything all of the wonderful contributors have to share. Thank you so much AD Amanda Soule and the whole Taproot team!
OK this is my last product post for now, I promise!

The latest Taproot Magazine, issue 12, BREAD is out today! Within it's pages you can find my trusty bread recipe, which someone whispered to me at a party in college four years ago. I wrote it down in my sketchbook and have been baking it ever since!
I'm also INCREDIBLY excited to announce that I am Taproot's 2015 cover artist! I've been with Taproot since their first issue and I feel so honored to be creating the covers for the coming year. Jennifer, Nikki and Geninne's work will be hard to follow up! Thank you Taproot so much for everything.
Here are the brand new illustrations I created for the 2015 Taproot calendar, which you can find HERE in their shop! These plus five of my illustrations from within the pages of Taproot from the past year make up the calendar. Don't forget to ask your favorite local Taproot retailers about carrying the calendar!
Thank you so much to all who came and said hello to me in the Taproot booth at the Common Ground Fair! I had such a lovely time, and it was so incredibly wonderful meeting so many supportive fans of my work.
