I had a wonderful time on the Cascadia Tracking Association’s trip to Crab Creek, WA this weekend. The landscape is so incredibly different over on the East side of the state! I loved doing some loose field sketches while exploring. Now that I’m out of college, it’s hard to make time for relaxing, mindless drawings and painting exercises from life.
I'm part of a group show called THREADS at Smith & Vallee Gallery in Edison, Washington which opens tomorrow! I would love to see you at the opening reception! Edison is one of my favorite places and I feel very honored to have work at Smith & Vallee alongside such great artists.
THREADS is a small group show featuring artists inspired by folk and outsider art, and traditions of storytelling and exploration of personal history through art and craft.
The show will feature painters Phoebe Wahl and Kelly Bjork, embroideries by Ries Niemi, collages and paintings by nationally-acclaimed Tennessee artist Hollie Chastain, weavings by Hannah Ruth Levi and Portland-based Natalie Novak and hand-dyed and quilted pieces by Jennifer Dranttel.
The show runs March 7th-29th, with an opening reception Saturday March 7th from 5-8pm.
Smith | Vallee Gallery is located at 5742 Gilkey Ave in historic downtown Edison, and is open every day from 11-5pm. More info at www.smithandvallee.com
